Welcome to the IB Exercise, Health and Sport Science Class Webpage
Email: goodenoughk@issaquah.wednet.edu
Office: 1410E Phone: (425) 837-7807 Feel free to use this page to submit assignments, find due dates, upcoming assignments, review the syllabus, and much more. This class is largely designed to be hands on with labs, projects, discussions, homework and tests. We will spend a considerable amount of time working in small groups in order to collaborate and share ideas. I am very excited to teach this course. Sports, athletics and other life sciences are a passion of mine and I will enjoy sharing it with you. All assignments and the course schedule can be found below as well as a place to submit work electronically. "In academia today exploration, originality, creativity and discovery are particularly valued. You will not distinguish yourself in academia these days by merely knowing a whole lot of information - which is free on the internet. You distinguish yourself by being able to apply this knowledge to new contexts creatively and by uncovering knowledge gaps." -- Myron Dueck

Grading Policy & Course Expectations

IB SEHS Course Syllabus | |
File Size: | 507 kb |
File Type: |

I am willing to work with you so you can earn any grade you feel you deserve. This does not mean it comes without work or effort, it simply means I will do my best to help you achieve your best. I am you ally for earning your grade, I want to work with you so you can do your best. There will be a large amount of assignments throughout the semester. Plenty in order to earn the grade you deserve.
The grading breakdown is as follows:
Tests / Quizzes: 30%
Labs: 20% Discussion: 5%
Homework / Classwork (non-lab): 15%
Active Participation* / Professionalism: 20%
Written Final Exam: 10%
GRADING SCALE:
- I do not round grades, if you receive an 89.9% your grade will be a B+.
- All written work must be legible. If I cannot read it, I cannot grade it.
- All work must be handed in when the teacher collects it to receive full credit. Late work will not be accepted. On a case by case basis, late work must be turned in together, as one packet, at the end of the quarter to the teacher.
I do expect all work and assignments to be completed on time and of your highest quality. I hold academic integrity to the highest regard, there is absolutely no excuse for cheating of any sort. Any cheating will result in an automatic zero for the person caught cheating and the person they are cheating off of (if the second party is knowingly participating). I am always willing to help and assist, I request you come to me with any questions or concerns.
EXAMS AND QUIZZES: Exams or quizzes will be given approximately every 3-4 weeks. Always be prepared for a pop quiz because they may happen at any time.
*PARTICIPATION:
You will be awarded 2 points each day by doing the following:
- Complete the daily warm-up question with a thorough answer.
- Be a positive participant in class.
You may lose participation points for the following reasons:
- Being tardy—you are not tardy if you are in your seat ready to start class
- Being off task and disrupting the class
- Breaking lab safety policies, which may lead to an automatic 0% on the lab depending on the severity of the infraction.
- Leaving the class/lab area messy
- Being disruptive to the teacher or class. (Yes, this includes non-approved usage of cell phones/tablets! Refer to the syllabus for acceptable usage.)
- Eating or drinking in class without permission. Screw top / closable water bottles are allowed, except during labs.

Lab Make UpsMissed labs due to excused absences only can be completed by the student up to one week after returning back to school. Consult with the teacher to set up a time and date to make up the lab. Sometimes it is impractical to leave lab materials set up in a busy classroom for an extended period of time, make up labs may have to be adapted by the teacher with the use of videos/podcasts along with a modified procedure and lab write-up to be completed and turned in.
